Darkness holds me
like a glove
Silence echoes
its crickety sound within my ear
I crouch
my trembling body
beneath the bundles of sheets
My eyes parading
without a blink
I try to scream
there is no sound
Any minute
and I’ll be scooped up
by dangling feathery claws
I’m held prisoner
from my nightly slumber
And now
It’s daylight
Where did the night go?
